Mobile Water Testing Lab for Water Quality Monitoring at different locations in Bangalore

Mobile Water Quality Monitoring is very much necessary for any city due to rampant pollution by different ways. Mobile Water Testing Lab has been established by purchasing an EECO vehicle 5 Seater (KA 03 NB 6528) equipped with basic testing devices like for testing TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), pH and Hardness for real-time onsite water quality monitoring. The vehicle was registered in the name of the startup JK Nanosolutions, #137, Ashrya Layout, Veersagara, Bengaluru – 560064.

The following items were kept in the vehicle for testing and also for waste water treatment and disinfection:

  • Smartphone based app for water quality monitoring
  • Total Dissolved Solids Testing Device
  • Hardness Testing Kit
  • Tarson Micropipette (10 to 1000 microlitre)
  • Nanosolutions (20 Liters)
  • Beaker, Conical Flasks, Test-tube, Droppers, Measuring Jar, and Funnel kept in Vehicle
  • pH paper indicators
  • Whatman Paper Filters

Locations covered by Mobile Water Testing Lab are

  • BMTC Bus Depots at Hebbal, Majestic, Electronic City, HSR Layout
  • Bellandur and Varthur Lake areas
  • Dhobhighat at Malleswaram
  • Small scale silk units at shanthinagar
  • Apartments at Bommenahali

Installation of Treatment Plant and Nanotechnology based Bus Wash Water Treatment

Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has 46 Bus Depots across Bengaluru City having around 6000 buses. Everyday buses are washed with at least 100 liters of water and the water is wasted without proper treatment. In Depot 19 at Electronic city having 100 buses, treatment plant was present but bus wash water treatment was not happening properly which led to closure notice given by KSPCB (Karnataka State Pollution Control Board). At this moment we have established the treatment plant. Nanotechnology based Bus Wash Water Treatment Plant has been established which has the capability of treating around 10,000 liters of bus wash water released everyday from the depot and 98 % water gets recycled. We have also supplied Nanosolutions continuously for four months to the depot. Significantly this is Asia’s First Nanocluster based Bus Wash Water Treatment Plant.

The following items were utilized for establishment of Nanotechnology based Bus Wash Water Treatment Plant at Depot 19:

Initially major parameters are checked followed by complete analysis by providing water samples to NABL accredited testing labs and shared with environment section of BMTC and Depot Manager of BMTC depot 19.
